Ann Wahrmund, former information technology director for Weyerhaeuser, replaces commission chairman Carlos Perez on the city’s Planning Commission. Wahrmund has been a Yelm resident for 15 years and saw a notice in the Nisqually Valley News about an opening on the commission and decided to apply.

The Planning Commission consists of seven members, appointed by the Mayor of the City, subject to confirmation by the City Council. The Planning Commission prepares the comprehensive plan for the advantageous development of the City, divides the City into zoning districts and regulates and restricts the erection, construction, reconstruction, alteration, repair or use of buildings, structures or land in those districts.

According to the City of Yelm Website (don’t do there if you use FireFox as your internet browser, it doesn’t work), Wahrmund joins Glen Cunningham, John Thomson, John “JW” Foster, John Graver, and Terry Kaminski on the Planning Commission which meets the third Monday of each month, at 4:00 p.m., at Yelm City Hall.
